Context: William has moderate learning difficulties and visual impairment. In this session, his class is working on playing different groups of sounds.

  1. Observation: Think about what you see and hear in the video.
  2. Interpretation: What can you reasonably infer about the person's musical engagement?
  3. Assessment: Suggest a Sounds of Intent Level and Domain.

William plays a well-known motif on the drum. This shows that he can remember and reproduce rhythmic motifs, and indicates engagement at Level 4, Proactive (P.4): ‘reproduces or creates musical motifs and potentially links them together’.
